Learn About the Different Types of Sod

There are plenty of different types of sod available. How do you know what option is right for your lawn? At Azalea City Lawn Services, we’re ready to break down the different types of sod and help you determine the best option for you.
We offer the following:
- Bermuda: If you’re looking for durable sod that offers a beautiful look, then Bermuda grass sod might be the best option for you. This fantastic option is frequently used for golf courses and can stand up to high amounts of foot traffic. That said, it is relatively high maintenance and needs regular mowing, watering, and fertilizing to thrive. In addition, it needs lots of light and proper drainage, or else it likely won’t last.
- Centipede: Want something a little more low-maintenance? Then Centipede grass sod could be a good option. This type of sod is heat tolerant, adapts well to different types of soils, and can limit the growth of weeds. It also only requires a little bit of mowing, so you can enjoy a nice-looking lawn without excessive upkeep.
- St. Augustine: St. Augustine sod offers a unique blue-green color that it will maintain for a long time. It grows relatively quickly, handles high heat and humidity pretty well, and only needs moderate maintenance. That said, it won’t do well during droughts, and it is particularly susceptible to issues like bugs and fungus, so it’s important to keep an eye on it.
- Zoysia: Zoysia is a fantastic option. It’s relatively durable, low-maintenance, and weed-resistant. It also stays green for a long time, which means you can enjoy a beautiful-looking lawn for ages.
